ROOTED: A Call for Kansas City Artists

All For Moms Foundation exists so that no Kansas City mother faces crisis alone. We transform homes for families living in chaos, provide six months of free therapy, and stock a resource closet with diapers, wipes, maternity clothes, formula, breast pumps, and everything else a mother and child need. In 2026, we nearly tripled the number of mothers we served. ROOTED is how we keep growing.

We're building an art showcase at the center of the gala, and we want your work there.

Theme: Rooted

Motherhood, growth, resilience, home. To be rooted is to be anchored against hard things while still reaching toward the light. Interpret it however it speaks to you, but skip the greeting-card sentiment. We're looking for work that is honest about what it takes to raise a family and what it means to be upheld by a community.

A room of 150 to 200 business, civic, and community leaders, art patrons, and donors
Credit on a placard, in the printed program, and during the evening, plus a feature on our social media beforehand

Real impact: proceeds that come to All For Moms support our Direct Support Fund for Kansas City mothers in crisis

Who Can Apply

Artists 18+ in the Kansas City metro (Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass counties in MO; Johnson, Wyandotte, Miami, and Leavenworth counties in KS), at any career stage. Up to three pieces each.

What We Accept

Painting, drawing, mixed media, fine art photography, original printmaking, framed tattoo flash and design, small wall textiles, tabletop sculpture, ceramics, and glass. No murals, live tattooing, performance, music, written work, or large installations. Work must be original, made within the last three years, free of others' copyrighted material, and available through May 7, 2027.

Size Limits

Wall work: up to 36" x 36" including frame, 20 lbs. Ready to hang or displayed on a stand. If hung, prepared with D-rings and braided wire (no sawtooth hangers). Gallery-wrapped canvas (1.5"+ deep) can go unframed.
Tabletop work: up to 18" W x 18" D x 24" H, 25 lbs, stable on its own.

How Sales Work

How Sales Work (Choose One Per Piece)

A. Auction, 100% donation: The full sale price benefits All For Moms.
B. Auction, 50/50 split: You receive half the final price after card fees (about 3%), paid by June 7, 2027. You set a minimum opening bid, which we confirm together by March 15.
C. Display only: Shown and credited, not auctioned. Buyer inquiries go directly to you.

Unsold auction pieces are returned to you.

To Apply, You'll Need

Legal name, email, phone, and website or social handle
Bio (150 words max)
1 to 3 images per piece (JPG or PNG, 2000px+ on the long side, neutral background, no watermark)
Per piece: title, medium, dimensions with frame (W x H x D), weight, year, and retail value
How each piece connects to the theme (200 words max)
Sale option (A, B, or C) per piece, plus a minimum opening bid for B

A panel of local artists and board members selects work based on connection to the theme, quality, and fit for the space. Decisions are final.

Mar 15: Final piece details and pricing due
May 6 (4–7 PM) or May 7 (9 AM–12 PM): Drop-off at Vox Theatre, 1405 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, KS 66103
May 7: ROOTED gala
May 11–23: Pickup of unsold and display-only work (details in your acceptance email)

Good to Know

You keep your copyright. We'll photograph accepted work to promote ROOTED, always with credit. Our event insurance covers the event, not individual artwork, so we recommend insuring high-value pieces yourself.
